Frequently Asked Questions


Q: What TRIM data is available?

As a MOFR-recognized ESF submitter, access to the following Provincial GeoBase products will be enabled:

  • 1:20k TRIM data consisting of planimetric (i.e. hydrographic, transportation, land cover and landmark features), contours, DEM (mass points, breaklines), and toponymy (place names)
  • 1:250k NTS (Restructured)
  • 1:250k TRIM Enhanced Base Map (TRIM-EBM)
  •  1:250k BC-DEM Elevation (Gridded - 25m intervals) and Hillshade (black & white or elevation coloured hill-shade)
Q: How do I get the TRIM data?

The TRIM data can be downloaded from the LRDW (Land & Resource Data Warehouse) via an application called the Data Distribution Service.

  • Login with your BCEID
  • When you get to the Find/Add Products Page you should see a category called TRIM Product Set
  • On the next page you probably will want TRIM (Most Current)
  • The DDS application is easy to use.....there is a limit to the number of mapsheets per "order" based on the amount of data....you may need to do multiple orders

Q: When I login I don't see the catogory TRIM Product Set?

It is possible that your BCEID has not been "linked" to a forest licensee.  Send an e-mail message to Susan Lindner at ILMB Susan.Lindner@gov.bc.ca

 

Q: What about access to orthophotos?

In addition to the above TRIM data, access to Orthophotos are being provided at a reduced cost (procurement fee of $50 / 1:20k plus applicable taxes & shipping fees).  Due to the large size of Orthophoto data, it will be shipped via DVD and is not available for download.

 

Q: Where do I go to get ortho data?

Ortho data is ordered via the Base Map Online Store (BMOS).

 

Q: I have started to order ortho data but it looks like I will be charged $200 per ortho.  How do I get it at the Forest Licensee rate of $50?

When you start the order process the system uses the "usual" pricing of $200.  After you get to the point of entering your BCEID the rate should drop to $50.

 

Q: What will happen re my existing DEA?

All licensees with DEA’s should receive a letter from BMGS providing notice that the DEA is being terminated.
